1. To the Glyptothek: The pre-bicycle age

The Glyptothek is Munich's oldest public museum and is the only museum in the world that is solely dedicated to ancient sculpture. It seemed to be an excellent choice on this sunny autumn day since its large windows provide ample natural light for photography, and yes, photography is allowed. The weather was so glorious that it almost didn't seem quite right to go to a museum instead of taking a long bicycle tour, but you know, the challenge. I said I was going to go to cafés in museums so that is what I did. My husband liked the idea - I think it was his - and happily accompanied me.

At the museum we locked up our bikes to a lamp post. I was surprised that there was no bicycle rack provided for visitors.

When we returned to our bicycles we encountered two young musicians, a German-Israeli couple. They told us they were taking advantage of the warm weather to practice outside instead of indoors. He played the accordian and she sang and played trumpet. They call themselves Folkadu and play traditional and modern Israeli folk music.
When we returned to our bicycles, we discovered this young couple playing and singing, so young, so full of joy.
This was indeed a wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning and their joyful music made it perfect.
