The weather is good ... but my cough lingers

For today I had planned an itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny little tour from one train station to another, along a river, just 23 km long and flat as a pancake. The weather was good enough, downright mild after a cold February. But my good sense and mainly my husband said it wasn't a good idea. As a matter of fact he wasn't going to let me go. So I - cough cough cough - gave up the idea for today.
Instead we rode our bikes in Munich and had a look at the St.Patrick's Day Parade. This has become a big thing in Munich, I don't know why. The event was started by a small gathering of Irish expats in 1996 and has become a massive parade of over 15,000 participants and spectators. I always love marching bands and parades and marching bagpipers were a novelty. It was lots of fun.
There were lots of bagpipes.
I don't think I ever got such a close look at a bagpipe before.
The Bavarians were there with a fife and drum corps.
And a Bavarian brass band.
Part of the parade were these four girls holding hands and riding their giraffe unicycles - amazing!
When we had seen enough, we went for a pizza.
Pizza with artichokes - not very Irish.
