June
Statistics show that June is the rainiest month of the year in Bavaria. On the average, you can expect 13 days with more than 1 mm rain and a total of 109 mm of the wet stuff. Do I need a new rain jacket?
Day 46 - June 3, 2018 The Bavaria at the Theresienwiese
On our way home from a picnic in the Bavaria Biergarten near this statue.
Bavaria is the name given to this monumental, bronze sand-cast 19th-century statue in Munich. It is a female personification of the Bavarian homeland, and by extension its strength and glory. It is the first colossal statue since Classical Antiquity to consist entirely of cast bronze and is considered a technological masterpiece. Because of its size it had to be produced in several parts. An internal circular staircase leads up to a platform in the head where four openings in the helmet provide a view of the Theresienwiese and downtown Munich.

Day 47 - June 4, 2018 The ivy tree behind our house
This tree is in our backyard. The tree itself is hardly visible as ivy has climbed up the trunk and to the branches. It might look romantic but the vine is probably doing more damage than good. Too bad, I would hate to lose another tree on the building's property. They create our tiny oasis here in the city.
Day 48 - June 5, 2018 Riding through the Olympic Park
The good weather continues and we aren't tired of going to a beer garden for a picnic lunch - some cheese and coldcuts and bread and radishes, that's about all we need. We like the ride to the Taxisgarten through the Olylmpic Park and along the side canal leading to Nymphenburg, about 8 km round trip.
Day 49 - June 6, 2018 A Ride to the Rose Garden
Our ride today took us to Munich's Westpark to see its wonderful rose garden. Everything in full bloom, an orgy of colors and scents. There is also a lovely beer garden in Westpark, quiet, hardly a soul there at noon.
Day 50 - June 10, 2018 Early Morning in the English Garden
A sunny Sunday morning and we were up early. Breakfast at Cafe Münchner Freiheit sounded like a good idea and then a ride in the English Garden. Great way to start the day.
Day 51 - June 15, 2018 Vine on the Wall Next to our House
We took a 41 km ride today, out to Forstkasten Biergarten for lunch with friends. But I didn't take a single picture except for this one before we left. It's the vine in our driveway, it's almost a tree.
Day 52 - June 16, 2018 I Love Bavaria!
What a day to be out on our bicycles! We had a date out in the country with a group of friends from the Flickr photo website. With all our experience taking our bikes on city trains, we opted for a train ride from Munich to Aying and a scenic ride to the beer garden in Taglaching. The bicycle ride was lovely, the train ride not so much. Saturday noon and the train station was jam packed. Broken elevators didn't help. Although it is not allowed to take your bike on an escalator, it was our only choice. We weren't going to carry our heavy bicycles down two levels.
Rode 28 km.

Day 53 - June 17, 2018 Mingling with Wild Flowers
Something different this time - a macro shot. The motivation for this close-up was a challenge on the Flickr photography website. The theme was "transportation" and the photo had to be macro.
We had taken a ride to a favorite lunch spot, the Taxis Biergarten. It was a bit cooler than in the past days and there were some clouds of a dubious nature moving in - but it never rained and again we enjoyed the tranquility of an outdoor lunch at a beer garden. On the way home through the Olympic Park I stopped for a little photo shoot with my bicycle.

Day 54 - June 18, 2018
On June 18 we set out on a 6-day tour along the Romantic Road. Here we are, on Day 1, somewhere off the beaten path.
Day 55 - June 19, 2018
On our second day on the Romantic Road bicycle route - here in Feuchtwangen.
Day 56 - June 20, 2018
Here we are in the lovely Tauber Valley on our way to Creglingen, Day 3 of our tour.
Day 57 - June 21, 2018
In Tauberbischofsheim at the end of the fourth day on tour.
Day 58 - June 22, 2018
Again wonderful cycling on Day 5: After we leave the Main River, we cross a ridge before we return to the meandering Main at Würzburg.
Day 59 - June 23, 2018
We reach Würzburg - last day on the Romantic Road
Stats
For June I chalked up 14 days that can count toward my 100-Bicycles-Challenge, and a total of 59 days for the year. I have over-achieved! For the first half of the year, I have more than 50 days. The conditions were favorable. Considering we were on a multiple-day tour and had fantastic weather, this doesn't necessarily mean that I will reach 100 for the year.
I got a new rain jacket, but I didn't really need it. June was very dry with 37% less rain than the average of the past 30 years.
