A Loop to Mariabrunn
Monday May 21, 2018
Mariabrunn is one of our favorite beer gardens. We've been there in the rain, had flat tires there, cycled muddy paths on the way, been there with friends, been there on Good Friday when it just opened for the season - many memories. Today we rode there again. It was the first sunny and truly warm day after what seemed to be a long week of rain.
Somehow the paths seemed more crowded today than on previous visits, more car traffic on the back roads that I expect to be car free. Was it because today was a holiday, or the first nice day after many rainy days, or are there generally more people on the roads these days? Or am I just getting fussy? I enjoyed it anyway.
The weather was perfect. We seemed to be there in no time. Of course, there were thousands of people on bicycles at the beer garden as well as the people who hike or drive their cars. We had a steckerlfisch, makrel roasted on the grill, and it was delicious.
For the ride home, Janos planned a new route so we didn't have to cycle the same roads back. It wasn't the most scenic route, but we had bicycle paths next to the roads the whole way. I always like to try different routes, it makes the rides more interesting. Even the most beautiful ride can get boring if you do it too often. The round trip was 50 km.
