Two unrelated events took place today: the Bavarian Landtag elections and the Munich Marathon. What do they have in common besides the date? There will be winners and losers, laughter and tears. But does the best man or woman always win?
On my walk around the city today, after going to the polls, I snapped some shots of the posters of the various political parties and also of some of the participants in the Marathon.
Middle of October almost, and we can still sit outside for a picnic lunch in a beer garden. It was a short bicycle ride to the Deer Park Beer Garden (Hirschgarten) and we found it almost empty. The weather is right but the season is over.
Golden October is what it is called - these beautiful fall days when you know that winter is approaching and every ray of sunshine counts. We decided to drive to Munich's "Hausberg", the most popular and closest mountain, just 70 kilometers south of Munich. Janos is still recovering from a bad cold but we hoped a ride in the car and then the cableway up the mountain wouldn't be too much.
The views of the Karwendel mountain range and Walchensee were stunning. We snapped a few pictures and walked the short distance to the Berggasthaus for lunch.
Another balmy October day. Janos is recovering from a bad cold so it seemed a little walk, nothing strenuous, was called for. In the late afternoon we strolled to the Old North Cemetery, it's not far, altogether we were probably out for about an hour. I had my camera with me, of course, and limited myself to using the Sol 45 lens.
On the way home I tried to capture the feel and look of Görresstrasse, not my usual style or subject.
What a lovely overcast day. Yes, overcast is just the right thing for photographing flowers in the Botanical Garden. It's actually a high fog that hides the sun and will disappear around noon, common in the Fall. The autumn colors in the Botanical Garden were much more brilliant than elsewhere. There were hardly any visitors and I enjoyed the quiet, subdued atmosphere.
... is an ever-changing space on my website. For a while I wanted pages, not a blog, for my entries. Now I'm back to the blog. It will contain a bit of everything, photography, bicycle rides, whatever ...
