From Slovenia: To Croatia
Sunday June 16, 2013
Some days don't need to be recorded, yesterday was one of those. We lazed around at the campgrounds and I don't even have any pictures. I got caught up on my journal, though.Today we were traveling again, time for a new location. We thought this might be a good time to visit the coast, before it gets too hot and too crowded. It was a slow drive since we avoid the big highways, through hilly country, lots of ups and downs and lots of cyclists out on this sunny Sunday. I didn't want to trade with them, though. Much too much traffic for my taste. And it was hot, way too hot. There were also lots of bikers (motor) on the road getting their kicks by leaning into the curves at a terrifying speed on their heavy machines.
Our first impression of the coast at Ankaran was a disappointment. An industrial harbor and the smell of oil convinced us to keep driving. Soon we crossed the not too distant border to Croatia. We were roasting in our van by then and were in that frame of mind where the easiest thing seems to be to keep driving and not have to make any decisions. Finally we got the idea we could stop for something to eat. That helped.

That was quite a meal for someone who is sitting in the car all day long. But we both felt refreshed after our stop and Janos chose a camping near Rovinj.
