Eight Wheels in Transit is about cycling and other possible forms of transport. So instead of the four wheels of our two bicycles we have added another four. We hit upon a new idea to suit our appetite for summer cycling. After many years of not owning a car, we bought a camper van!
The idea is to drive to any destination we want and then set out on short tours on our bikes, they can be one-day tours or longer. How cool is that? We now have all of Europe at our finger tips. Shall it be Norway? Croatia? Portugal in the winter? The choices are overwhelming.
It wasn't an easy decision and I'm hoping it was a good one. The hardest part wasn't choosing which camper or plunking down the Euros, but saying good-bye to many years of long-distance cycle touring. I've spoken to many cyclists who love doing loops from a well chosen location and not having to carry heavy panniers. I hope we acquire a taste for that, too. Time will tell.
