Letenye to Sárvár: Cold weather and hot baths
Tuesday June 25, 2013
It was pouring when we woke up. The night before we had folded our chairs and table and put them under the eaves of a small building in case of rain, but that didn't really protect them. The heavy rain splattered everything with mud and we had a fine mess to pack up. In the course of time everything dries, no damage done, and everything will also be scarred from use. We are just still a little protective of our camping gear, still new and shiny.
A friend recommended Sárvár as one of his favorite spas in Hungary and we thought we could give it a try. It wasn't far, about a three hour drive, but it bucketed down the whole way there. We had to plow through deep puddles on the secondary roads which are not in very good repair.

The campgrounds at Sárvár are very nice, each site spacious and fenced off with hedges, and the ground is a bed of pebbles - no mud! It was the most expensive camping ground we had stayed at so far, but the camping fee included free access to both the indoor and outdoor thermal pools. We hoped this location would give us plenty of opportunity to soak the old bones as well as take bicycle rides in the surroundings. Provided the rain stopped.
