A bit of the coast: Around Punta Corrente
Tuesday June 18, 2013
Today we found the Tourist Information and picked up some maps for the surroundings. We had our bicycle shorts and jerseys on but didn't plan anything very ambitious as we didn't relish being on the roads for the noon heat. Today was again around 30°C at least.
From Rovinj's port we cycled the coastal path around Punta Corrente. The coast here is very stony and the water is clear, through a blue haze you see small islands off shore and low hills in the distance. The water looked refreshing but we didn't think to bring our bathing suits with us, and more important bathing shoes. It seems everyone wears rubber shoes to protect their feet when they go in the water. We returned on an inland road, this time asphalt which I much prefered for cycling. I have trouble on paths with loose stones and gravel as I have a poor sense of balance and they make me feel very uneasy. So on paths like this I am concentrating on the ground below me and I can only enjoy the views if I stop and get off my bike.
We were back in town for an early lunch and back at the camping for a cooling shower when it got too hot to be on the road.
Unfortunately, I only had enough battery for a few pictures and had forgotten to bring a second one.
