The sun is out ... and other big news
Saturday March 24, 2018
Sunny, bright and brilliant blue skies, good-bye winter, welcome sweet springtime! We didn't have a lot of time today, so again not the day for a theme ride (no theme is the new theme), but time enough for a ride to Munich's Westpark, one of my favorite parks here. It's an easy 25-minute ride to the park.
Westpark, completed in 1983, hosted the International Garden Expo 83. There are hills and little lakes, ducks and turtles, a Nepalese pagoda, a Japanese garden and a Thai temple. Later on dogwood will bloom (very rare in Germany) and myriads of spring flowers will pop up out of the ground. Today there were very few early bloomers but masses of people out to catch the warmth of the sun.
We soon veered off the main drag where you had to be extra careful not to hit or get hit by a kiddie on his new bike. Nice to see all the families out, though.
We circled around and back to the restaurant and cafe, located in the rose garden. We'll have to wait a while for the roses but not for coffee and cake. We were surprised to see that the bicycle rack wasn't there any more.
But here's the real big news - not the sun, not the park, not the crowds, not the cake and coffee - but Janos's new bike! Are we off our rockers to buy a new bike? Maybe, but we are bent on enjoying these years on our bikes. Janos will turn 80 in a few months. His old e-bike with a BionX motor and battery were in need of many repairs. BionX is a Canadian manufacturer. This makes replacing parts difficult and takes much time, sometimes delivery takes months. So we took the plunge and voilà - a fantastic bike! Here you can read all about it. I am almost more excited than Janos!
P.S. Just did a tiny bit of re-positoning and my new saddle feels perfect. So glad I discovered it.
