March: A Month without Precedent
No need for explanations as we all know what has made this month unique in the worst way. The effects of the corona virus and the measures to prevent its spreading are omnipresent. That said, I have been riding my bike where it is safe, and that is on the empty paths in the woods around where we live. You don't forget the pandemic while you are riding, but you aren't being constantly reminded of it, either. On the surface, most of what I see when I go out is no different than before the shutdown. That's a good thing - nature doesn't care about the virus, and the virus doesn't care about nature.
For this month I have a paltry 13 rides and an unimpressive 200 km for the books. We had some nice days, but a series of sub-zero days as well. I had so many bouts with bronchitis in the past year, I decided no more cold weather riding for me. This is not a time to take risks.
