A sunny day sandwiched in between cold and wet ones - it didn't take long to decide to get in the car and go somewhere, anywhere. The Eibsee, a small lake at the foot of Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitz, was our choice. The 100 km drive didn't take long and we looked forward to a 8-km walk around the lake. The sun had been shining long enough to melt the surface of the snow and ice on the path. It was water on ice and felt threateningly slippery. Especially with a quality camera in my hand. We settled for a smaller portion of the path that was dry. We got a few shots of the mountains with a bright blue sky, then as it clouded over I started looking at the ground more than the sky and became fascinated by the trees and their roots which seemed to be clutching the rocks and boulders as if hanging on for dear life.
